Feloszt has a very basic system for money and economies. See MONEY for more information. Because of this, the aspects of inventory and work threads require a simple explanation.
Jobs & Work Threads
Everyone has a job to do. When you create a character on Feloszt and decided where you will play, the Magistrate for that domain will help you get set up with a way to make a living. This job will provide you with everything you need to survive as well as a designated class. Your character’s class will define his or her standard of living but in order to maintain that, work threads must be done. Each author is expected to complete a total of five thousand (5,000) words per season in threads specifically dedicated to performing the character’s chosen profession. There is no specific word count per thread but there is a limit on work threads per season; four (4). This is a requirement of the game. Failure to complete work threads can result in IC consequences which will be handled in a case by case basis.
Up to 4 threads = 5000 words / season
Any combination is acceptable. 1@3000 words, 2@1000; 3@1500, 1@500; etc.
Inventory & Wage Classes
It is not necessary to track every single thing your character owns, buys, sells, eats and wears. Job selection and wage classes will provide a general idea of what kind of items that your character will own. Special items, such as those gained in quests or through the money system, will need to be listed and linked to how they were earned. If there is a particular object that holds significance to your character, you may choose to list it but it is not required.
Wage classes exist to make sure a stable boy doesn’t run around in fine silks and jewel-encrusted daggers. The Magistrate who oversees your area will define your wage class for you. Please know that the same job might not carry the same weight in every area. Every time you move from one city to another, the prospect of your wealth could change. A hunter might make good wages in a rural community but could earn less in an area dominated by plantations and trade. Likewise, a blacksmith would be in high demand in an area where war drives the economy but would be useless to a village that has no metal objects. Below is a basic breakdown of the different wage classes. Please be aware that every domain will have its own quirks and variations to these descriptions. Your Magistrate will help you understand exactly how you fit into society. Leveling up your work related talents can also help you climb the class ranks.
Slave: You own nothing but one or two small items that you can discretely hide on your person. Attire, access to good food or shelter will be completely dependent upon your situation. Some slaves will be treated well and some won’t. Please discuss all of these things with your Magistrate before you begin writing your story. We, the staff, know that slavery is an awful thing and do not condone any part of it. However, it is part of life and thus a part of Feloszt as well.
Poor: You own very little. Your clothes are low in quality and quantity. You eat when you can and rarely get a choice in what that may be. Your weapons will be limited and of shoddy craftsmanship. Everything you handle will be the scraps of your community.
Average: You are the standard of your community.
Prosperous: You might own your own business or have a sizeable holding somewhere. Your clothes, food, and items will be above average for your community.
Affluent: The select few, you have the finest wares in the entire land. You likely have servants, slaves or serfs. You may even have your own guard -I’d recommend it- since you need someone to watch your manor and the chest of treasure locked away inside. You bow to no one but the leaders of the realm.
Royalty: This is not an easily achieved class but with enough work, one might ascend to the wealthiest seat in the realm. You have no equal and only your only limits will be your ambitions and your imagination.
