THE WORLD FROM BEFORE
Our Celestials come from a world much like Earth. It’s diverse in terms of biomes, plant and animal life, technology, and religion. The general state of knowledge is comparable to the 13th and 14th centuries of our history and, like Earth, there is no magic. On this world, there is one central continent with many smaller ones that float about it like large islands and chains. The major landmass is ruled by the Empire of Reuterheim which is the kingdom where all of the adventurers lived.
The Empire is surrounded by independent nations, tribes and the rebellious Confederation of Kiterland, the second largest landmass. It was this conflict that shaped much of what the Celestials learned, did, and witnessed.
The Empire was light, strength, religion, and propriety. The Confederation was comprised of seafarers, mercenaries, clever traders, and devout heathens. While the island nations scraped and tugged at the thick velvety cloak of the Empire’s six kingdoms, those within the walls and realm of protection enjoyed rather stable and calm lives. The fringe provinces were constantly under fire and siege but the superior resources, manpower, and logistics of the Empire had them winning the great war when the adventurers disappeared into the portal.

Six adventurers from a world very much like earth stumbled upon a powerful artifact. It has many names but the truth is far less simple. A portal, the doorway to another universe, beckoned the mortals into its swirling mirror glass. When they stepped through, the ground gave way and their essences were transformed into powerful beings.
